WW2 German P.38 Holster Captured by PFC Irving Weinflash, US 3rd Army

Description:
This is a regulation soft-side P.38 holster with "fkx / 4" ordnance code on the back (Gustav Sudbrack Lederwaren & Gaschenfabrik, Bielefeld). The dark brown leather is in good shape, supple and intact, with light & moderate crazing throughout, as well as scuffs along the projections and flex points. The cover flap once had some insignia attached via holes in the flap, presumably done post-capture. The flap also has some missing stitching on one side. The interior of the holster is hand-marked: WEINFLASH / Co. G 346th / U.S.A." in black ink. Irving Weinflash was a PFC in Co. G, 346th Inf. Reg’t., 173rd Inf. Bde., 87th Div., US 3rd Army, and served from 1944 & 1946. He took part in Patton’s Central European campaign, including the relief of Bastogne, eventually being awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Weinflash survived the war and lived a long life, passing away at the age of 92 in June of 2018. This is a neat WW2 holster, identified to a soldier who took part in Patton’s drive to Germany.;
