"Japanese Katana Signed “Seki-ju Saigo Kanenori" with Dragon Horimono (SW2036)
Description: "This is a Japanese katana signed “Seki-ju Saigo Kanenori" (Saigo Kanenori, resident of Seki). Kanenori was one of the Showa-era smiths working in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, a major swordmaking center during the 1930s–1940s. The blade measures 24.75 inches in length, with a gentle curve and medium kissaki. The surface is brightly polished, showing a straight hamon. A striking horimono of a dragon has been carved into the blade, giving it strong visual presence. The tang is ubu with a crisp mei, consistent with Showa-period work. Mounted in complete civilian koshirae: the saya finished in red lacquer with sprinkled decoration, the tsuka wrapped in brown silk ito over ray skin, and an iron tsuba with cut-out tool motifs. The fittings are simple but solid, complementing the bold decoration of the blade. A handsome Showa-era katana by Saigo Kanenori, combining traditional craftsmanship with decorative flair.
