Excellent WW1 US Model 1913 Cavalry Sword by Landers, Frary & Clark
Description: This is a handsome example of the Patton-designed cavalry sword that measures 42 1/4" overall, with a 35 1/4" straight, tapered blade having unstopped central fullers. The blade has a mostly armory bright patina with a few very minor spots of darker freckling at the tip. The ricasso markings are crisp and clear: "L.F. (flaming bomb) & C. / 1918" on the reverse, "US / (eaglehead proof)" on the obverse. The sheet metal guard has retained most of its original black painted finish, with thin surface oxidation present throughout as well. The checkered metal grip likewise retains its original black painted finish with some flaking and wear that exposes the underlying gray metal. The original canvas and metal scabbard is included, and matches the condition of the sword with some very light surface wear on the surface of the cloth wrap, as well as minor flaking and freckling on the painted black finish. This is a fine example of the last combat cavalry sword adopted by the U.S. Army, and would make a fine addition to any collection.; Price: $950.00 Contact Seller |
