Original German Luftwaffe officer’s aluminum sword by SMF of Solingen with a 26.25" blade, aluminum fittings, blue leather grip with wire wrap and matching blue scabbard, showing honest wear.

Description:

Standard German Luftwaffe officer’s aluminum ceremonial sword, manufactured by SMF (Solinger Metallwarenfabrik), Solingen, with aluminum alloy fittings bearing gilt swastika emblems at the pommel and guard, a dark blue leather-covered grip wrapped with twisted aluminum wire. Original blue washer present. The straight 26.25" blade is marked with the SMF Solingen maker logo at the ricasso and is accompanied by its blue leather scabbard, aluminum throat with dual suspension rings, the throat and tip retained by headless side screws. No hanger.

Condition:

VG+ blade having been lightly cleaned, near excellent grip with the dual wire wraps intact and most of the gold gilt remaining. VG scabbard, the leather having cracked and flaked at lower one-third as carefully imaged.
