THIS MINT BLADE IS A FULL 6 3/4" WITH A NEEDLE POINT TIP. NOT COMMON ON EARLY DROP-FORGED HAND GROUND AND SHARPENED EXAMPLES. THE BLUED CROSSGUARD IS ALSO MINT. ON THE CROSSGUARD SIDE IS STAMPED "ENGLAND". IT IS ALSO STAMPED BROAD ARROW I (/|\ I), THE MOS (MINISTRY OF SUPPLY PROOF MARKING). THE /|\ I MOS INSPECTOR IS NOT OFTEN SEEN ON CDO KNIVES! QUITE RARE. THIS MOS PROOF STAMP IS FROM A WILKINSON SWORD CONTRACT OF 2,500 KNIVES (VERY SMALL) THE HANDLE IS MARKED WITH THE MOLD #1 AT THE POMMEL, WHICH INDICATES THE H. J. MAYBRY COMPANY OF LONDON THE MAKER THAT CAST THE HANDLE, ONE OF FOUR MAKERS HANDLE CONDITION IS MINT . THE POMMEL NUT IS UNTOUCHED ALSO. THE ORIGINAL CORRECT WW2 SCABBARD REMAINS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. IT IS MISSING THE RETAINER STRAP, WHICH IS NOT UNCOMMON WITH THE MORE DELICATE SCABBARDS MADE FROM FINE ENGLISH GLOVE LEATHER. THE FOUR TABS ARE PRESENT! MANY TIMES THE COMMANDOS WOULD REMOVE THEM SO AS TO BE ABLE TO SLIP THE KNIFE INTO THE SPECIAL POCKETS MADE INTO THEIR BDU'S (BATTLE DRESS UNIFORMS). OVERALL A DIFFICULT WILKINSON MADE KNIFE TO FIND IN HIGH CONDITION. NOTE! THE ELASTIC STAP IS MISSING. WW2 PICS NOT INCLUDED.
