"Model 1852 Pattern Naval Officers sword by Horstmann (SW2050)

Description:
"29" bight blade. Right side of the blade is marked “W.H./ HORSTMANN/& SONS/PHILADEPHIA. Above name is etched with floral sprays, an oval of stars where an officer’s name would be etched in, this one is blank and a panoply of arms. Left side of the blade is etched with Eagle over cannon balls. Above the eagle the blade is marked with USN inside ribbon over Anchor. Upper portion of etching terminates into a floral pattern. Cast brass hilt remains in very good condition with “USN" inside a decorative floral pattern with acorns and oak leaves. Curved Qullion is a sea monster head with scales. Shark skin wrapped grip and wire remain in overall good condition. Scabbard shows light discoloration on the leather; brass mounts have a nice aged patina.
