U.S. Model 1840 Cavalry saber by C. Hammond Civil War era. Scabbard has a deep plum patina with surface pitting visible. Blade is faintly marked Hammond with no date or inspector mark present. Pommel is loose, leather and wire wrap are fair. Blade has a frosted appearance with surface pin prick pitting noted. Blade is 35 5/8""
