Description:
A U.S. Civil War Military Issued Ames Model 1840 Artillery sword Dated 1864 In Very Good Untouched Condition. All original and complete. The sword has a very good blade with nice markings. It is marked on one side of the ricasso, "MADE BY/AMES MFC. CO./CHICOPEE/MASS." and on the other side, "U.S./JH/1864". The untouched blade is very good throughout with no chips and a very good light patina on it. It has its original leather washer on it. The original grip is nice and untouched throughout. This includes the fine leather wrap, and the original brass wire. The brass guard is also fine and untouched throughout. The top of the pommel is U.S. Sub Inspected, "H." on it. The original scabbard is very good & untouched throughout with a nice light natural patina on it. This Is A Very Very Good All Original Example Of A U.S. Civil War Military Issued Ames Model 1840 Artillery Sword Dated 1864. Untouched Ames U.S. Model 1840 Civil War Artillery Swords Artillery Are Very Hard To Come By In Very Good Untouched Condition!
