has original hanger / this sword is probably pre1900 the hanger leather is showing its age // and lots od gilt missinbg on guard ////// f w clark etched on blade // this has the uniform rank mark /// lots of history on the internet about nights of pithias // the blade is excellent // scabbard shows loss on nickel / but in solid condition
Early in the group's history, some Pythians formed the Uniformed Rank, which adopted military terminology for its organization. Swords owned by a member of the Uniformed Rank might be inscribed with the acronym, "UR," a dove, or a lily. (The Uniformed Rank was banned in the organization in the 1950s.) $40 sh made by pettibone bros cinti ohio// has U R on blade and guard // the hanger is very dry and cracking with repairs ,, rarer than the sword i think
