Mounted Wakizashi (J436)

Description:

Mounted Wakizashi. This is beautifully mounted Wakizashi signed “Bishu Osafune Sukesada saku”. This means that is was forged in the town of Osafune in Bishu province by the sword smith Sukesada. The cutting edge (Nagasa) 18 5/16 (46.5 cm). This poece is Ubu (unshortened) and in polish. The temper is a wide choji midare. The motif of the sword furniture is dragons with gold highlights. The fuchi is signed “Omori Teru Hide”. The scabbard is wrapped in cloth with a floral pattern. This is a exceptionally fine mounted Wakizashi.
