Beautiful Oak Single Barrel Percussion Rifle Case
Description: Item Description: Beautiful Oak Single Barrel Percussion Rifle Case Item #24-45 Gauge: Unknown Approximate Age: Mid 1800’s Dimensions: 33”x9.5”x3” Barrel Length: 30” Label: Manton Outside initials/markings: G.S Abercromby Esq. Forglen Key: No Straps: No Cleaning Rods: No Condition: Good Outside Color: Light Oak Inside Color: Dark Green Price : $850.00 Description: This is an incredible white oak mid 1800’s percussion rifle case with an extensive history! The case belonged to Sir George Samuel Abercromby, 6th Baronet of Banffshire and owner of the Forglen Estate in Banffshire in Scotland. The case has been beautifully refinished at some point in time and the Manton label is likely a reproduction. I believe it was probably fitted for a rifle (although a shotgun is possible) the Forglen estate is home to red deer, so it was likely a gun for stalking. Either way it is a beautiful old case in great condition that clearly housed an exceptional gun from one of the best English gunmakers of the day. Please contact me for further dimension information if needed! I have a good number of all kinds (Mainly Vintage) Oak & Leather, Leather, and Canvas hard cases in my inventory (to be listed over the upcoming months) as well as a large collection of original (Paper & Leather) and top quality, aged, reproduction, gun case labels! NOTE: The photos are part of the description. Any gun pictured in the case is for display purposes only and obviously NOT included in the price. Flat rate UPS shipping is $40.00 anywhere in the lower 48 states Price: $850.00 Contact Seller |
