Description:
Antique Colt pattern 1851 Navy, California Slim Jim Holsters.
Made circa 1851-1865. Especially popular in California. These slim Jim holsters were developed during the California Gold Rush to replace the bulky saddle/flap holsters for the express purpose of faster draw. This holster is contoured perfectly to fit the Colt Navy revolver. It is constructed of, dark high grade leather and incorporates the classic triple-recurved throat profile exposing the revolver hammer and both sides of the trigger guard area. It has an open toe to allow debris to fall out and keep the barrel clean. It shows simple hand cut tooling design on the pouch and double line cut border tooling. It's in very good condition with soft pliable leather. It shows use and carry with a small scuff at the top and about 1-1/2" of old, period, hand re-sewing at the toe. The rest of the original stitching is intact and solid. The original belt loop and stitching is also intact. No makers mark. A very early frontier holster in great condition. Offers welcome
