RARE Savage Slide -- as mentioned by Clawson!!
Description: RARE Savage 1911 Slide! Savage was contracted by the U.S. Government in 1919 to manufacture 100,000 1911's. The Gov't wanted to have a supplier on the West Coast. However, by the time Savage was tooled up and ready to produce 1911's, the war was over and the Gov't cancelled the contract. NO complete firearms were ever known to be assembled. However an unknown amount of slides were marked with the Colt patent dates, Savage's marking, and MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY. It is rumored that the remaining parts were sent to Springfield Armory to be used in production. Clawson also mentions these slides in his book Collector's Guide to Colt .45 Service Pistols Models of 1911 and 1911A1. This is only the second one I've seen in person. It remains in its original blued condition. The other one I've seen is a RIA refurbished 1911 with a Parkerized finish (which I also own). Don't miss out on a chance to own a true collectible piece of U.S. military 1911 history. The slide is complete with firing pin, spring, extractor and firing pin stop. Accepted forms of payment are USPS money order, money order, or major bank cashier's check. No shipping to AK or HI. Shipping is $60, insurance up to $1,500 included.
