Columbia Precision Tall Post Tang Peep Sight

The Columbia Precision Tall Post Tang Peep Sight  is designed to fit Winchester rifles with a long rearward throw to the bolt when the action is opened, and larger  frame actions. Examples are Winchester Models 1876 and 1886. The sight post is attached rearward on the upper tang, nearer the comb of the stock. This allows for the longer bolt throw. To fold down completely flat with aperture in place, the comb of the stock must be altered (cut back). The CPW Sight has both elevation and windage elements. It comes with both a replacement upper tang screw and a forward mounting screw to fit factory drilled mounting holes in the upper tang of older guns (pre-1964). Guns lacking the forward mounting screw hole may be drilled and tapped by a gunsmith. The sight comes with a target aperture, which may be removed leaving a "ghost ring" suitable for hunting or quick shooting such as in Cowboy Action Shooting. Advantages to tang peep sights are a longer sight radius (distance from front to rear sight) and the elimination of the need to focus on two sights when targeting an objective. Since one looks through the rear peep sight, only the front sight needs to be focused upon. This is especially beneficial to old eyes!
