This rear sight was made in Germany in the 1925-1934 time period (not for the "B" Series) for the Mauser target rifle with the grooved barrel on which this rear sight could be moved forward or backward for the shooter's eyerelief.PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS FACTORY REAR SIGHT WAS MODIFIED BY A PRIOR OWNER, who removed the original open sight leaf and installed what looks like a WW2 type military peep sight (possibily a 1903A3 or M1 Carbine). This newer sight platform appears to have been spot welded or epoxy glued on to the original sight base.-see photo. The newer rear sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation-see photos. I bought this rear sight for my Mauser ES350B(1935-1939) but, the sight grooves were not wide enough.
