JERRY FISHER'S COMPLETE SHOP FOR SALE
Description: PRICE REDUCED! JERRY FISHER'S ENTIRE WORKSHOP FOR SALE. All made in the USA . Clausing mill, South Bend lathe with tooling galore. I guess I should let some of you know that Jerry was a very fine metalsmith. I don't think he wanted this to be widly known and I'm just guessing he prefered to known as a stockmaker( and not be loaded down with even more work ) None the less he had all the required machinery, cutters, reamers, files etc. ( and skills of course) One photo shows Jerry's bluing set up. Many of you have seen Jerry's fine rust bluing. This is where he carried on this labor extensive process. No shortcuts here. This ancient process takes many days but is still the most durable and beautiful " bluing" available today. The Rolls Royce of the stock carving machines, the Hoenig twin spindle with motorized spindle rotation. I have seen Jerry's Hoenig and marveled at its remarkable condition. 45 years old and in like new condition. ( Jerry took great care of his machinery and tools) There is also every cutter and follower you would ever need to start carving stocks. Also included are 42 English walnut stockblanks and 22 pattern stocks that Jerry used to create his legendary style. I personally, have made many, many pattern stocks and while they are not pretty they serve a vital purpose, that purpose is to discover your mistake on the pattern stock. Not on a blank worth thousands. This machine does not make mistakes. ( but we have all heard of operator error) I value a good pattern stock at $2500. ( generally a weeks worth of work or more involved in making a pattern) With a good pattern these machines are capable of a press fit ( 1 to 1 ) on fine double sidelocks. I am not exagerating. Hoenigs are equally adept at incredibly fine tolerences of .001 of an inch on one piece rifle stocks. It is not quicker to use a Hoenig machine for a fine stock. You just have a better chance for a wonderful outcome and "just the way you want it". You will be buying Jerry's designs along with the machine and without getting too dramatic,( Jerry would roll his eyes at this ) maybe bit of Jerry's gunmaker magic. Jerry said the best stock he ever made, up to that point ,was the first stock he created using the Hoenig. Hoenig carving machines are quite rare. The last new one was sold a year or so back for $32,500. and that is just with basic tooling...... No more will be built. In general it takes decades to build up a complete gumakers shop. The devil is in the details and much of the value of a Gunmakers shop are hidden in drawers, boxes and hanging on the walls. A multitude of tools in Jerry's shop cannot be bought. Jerry was the complete craftsman, so what he needed and could not buy, he made. Thousands of hours of Jerry's time was spent crafting all of these specialty, jigs fixtures and hand tools. The value of these specialty items cannot be over estimated. INCLUDED IN THE SALE: Clausing Milling machine and lots of tooling South Bend lathe, lots of tooling and several chucks, collets etc. Hoenig stock carving machine ( like new ) with cutters, stylist, dust collector system, 22 pattern stocks and 42 Englush walnut stockblanks. Celeste Fisher made up a poster ( photo included ) to market her late husband's shop. These were sent around to all the gunsmithing schools. It was Jerry's dream that someone carry on the trade with his shop. Now it's Celeste's dream is to have someone purchase Jerry's complete shop and carry on the trade of fine gunmaking (and not sell it off in bits and pieces) Everything is included in this sale less the building and of course the entire contents must be moved to a different location. ANY QUESTIONS: Please contact Celeste Fisher at 406-837-2722 ( I can supply you with Celeste's email address upon request) Thanks so much, Steve Price: $165,000.00 Contact Seller |
