This original U.S. WWI M1911 leather pistol holster is marked "U.S." on the flap and stamped on the reverse "G&K, 1918, A.G.", identifying its World War I production. Despite visible age and wear, the holster retains its form and unmistakable presence. The leather shows roughness consistent with field use and time, yet the structure remains intact, and the maker marking and date are still discernible, though partially faded.
During World War I, leather holsters such as this were issued alongside the Colt M1911 pistol, which became the standard American sidearm in 1911 and saw extensive service in the trenches of Europe. Makers such as G&K supplied holsters under government contract, contributing to the rapidly expanding logistical needs of the American Expeditionary Forces. Surviving examples often show significant wear due to field conditions, making honest, unaltered pieces particularly appealing to collectors.
