Description: SD MYRES SADDLE COMPANY tooled leather belt holster for a 1911 semi-automatic pistol with 5'" barrel made in or before 1920 in Sweetwater, Texas. Samuel Dale (SD) Myres was born in Cleburn, Texas in 1871 and founded SD Myres Saddle Company in 1898 in Sweetwater, Texas where he later became mayor and in 1920 moved to El Paso, Texas where he operated until he died in 1953 at the age of 82. The business continued to operate until 1969 when it closed. Over their 71 years of designing and marketing fine leather goods, Myres became known as the best saddlery in America and had a long list of famous clients including Ronald Reagan, Will Rogers, Pancho Villa, Tom Mix, Gene Autry, Ken Maynard and Monte Montana, just to name a few. This masterpiece is in remarkable condition with sensational hand tooling, 100% original threading, goat skin lining, steel double rivits/snaps and high quality natural leather with NO varnish.
