Description:
This knife was hand shaped from carbon steel to craft a knife based on a mid 18th century American example of blades that would have been common place in the possibles bag of a runner of the woods or at the dining table of a cabin. Working with period tools, this interpretation of an early American knife has a burly wood handle stained with Aqua Fortis and finished with multiple coats of linseed oil and bees wax and the handle is secured with brass rivets. The tang is like the originals. This knife would be the perfect gift for the history buff re-enactor or anyone that would like a quality blade. The blade of this knife measures 3 1/4” long with a handle 3 1/2” long and an overall measurement of 6 7/8”
The sheath is made from waxed leather and made to fit and protect the blade well.
Aqua Fortis is a very old Nitric Acid based wood stain used heavily on gun stocks, furniture, and musical instruments in the 18th century
