TRONCAY I
Without a doubt, this is the knife that forever changed the outcome of the French custom cutlery, when Jean Tanazacq designed it in late 70's. It is Tanazacq's masterpiece which initiated the young cutler to launch his company ARDENNLAME in 1980. This model went on to revolutionize the French custom knife community of that time. With never-before-seen shape, his TRONCAY I made him take advantage of new techniques with a blade that was sturdy and extremely sharp, offering a wide range of field applications, while promoting a blade design that is both suited for hunting. That was the ideal shape hunters had dreamed off. With an unprecedented, unparalleled line's purity, a most unique design, a powerful lanceolate tip, a beautiful walnut handle with a slightly inclined profile being distinctive features; it was a winner from the very beginning. Forty years later, it remains his best seller; its the model to have. When Tanazacq created the first prototype, it in turn branded him with a knife that would become his life's work and his "Flagship" model.
Tanazcaq's TRONCAY 2
Differs from the TRONCAY I, only by the shape at the tip which is convex as to present a clear path that opens an animal to the return. Being right behind the TRONCAY I , it is the most produced knife recognized as being of universal use for skinning small and big game and general hunting purposes. Strong, neither too long or too short, it requires a little more fingering at the time of opening, thus avoiding to pierce the viscera because of its engaging trajectory. With the same characteristics as seen on the TRONCAY I, it possesses the famous curved counter-cutting or false edge which is concave in its final shape, immortalized by Jim Bowie, being more penetrating but more fragile than the lanceolate tip seen on the TRONCAY I. All models from the TRONCAY's family have a hidden tang, the same handle shape, a solid brass guard and butt cap. As one might surmise, it is a variation of the TRONCAY I, but it's difficult to surpass the original.
NOTE: The model Troncay 6 has been sold, therefore I have adjusted the price for the remaining models Troncay 1 and Troncay 2.
