JEAN TANAZACQ VINTAGE "BAVI 3" SURVIVAL HOLLOW HANDLE KNIFE 1982/1983 COMPLETED IN JULY 2019 NO LONGER AVAILBALE TODAY A RARITY
Description:
This model is part of two versions of the renowned knife originally used in the movie "First Blood." The slightest variations find on each knife can be easily observed. However, the real difference lies in two minor details: the shape of the sawteeth and the final shape of the sharp cutting edge, one of which is curved while the other is straight; otherwise everything else is the same. The 9" blade has fourteen protuberant sawteeth extending along about half of the false edge, while stopping about an inch from the guard. Both models are contained in a very high-quality, handcrafted study leather scabbard with hone pocket for a sharpening stone (not provided) and made of full stainless steel construction. In theory the saw works on wood only because the sharpening of the teeth is exactly the same as the ones find on an industrial milling machine cuter or a machine saw. These are very beautiful knives, yet, very functional as a survival tool that will withstand the harsher uses. All with all knives made by Jean Tanazacq, this model has a very aggressive cutting edge ready for any tasks. These knives were extremely difficult to manufacture back then due in part to the relatively very limited amount of machinery used by Jean and are NO longer available. Knife was completed in July 2019 while the blade was heat-treated back in 1982/83 as such has been recently "discovered" and thought as being "lost," for decades..Free shipping (USPS) with tracking # within the Continental United States. I do not engage in any type of trading. Price is firm. These are truly one-of-a-king knife from another era and are seldom seen today making them a rarity in the marketplace.
