The Jurassic Flipper from Rick Hinderer Knives is like no other out there and a slightly different departure from the XM-18. It preserves the Hinderer style; overbuilt toughness and the ability to flex between EDC and tactical roles with ease. The name came from Rick's wife Lori, stating that the knife looks like a claw, a really big claw like a talon, and Rick might've interpreted that as the first scene from Jurassic Park. Thus the knife became the Jurassic. 
This overbuilt titanium frame lock folder is just as ergonomic as the XM-18 but the two finger grooves make for a more solid saber grip. The raised spine makes this knife what Rick calls a "drop edge", where the cutting surface is positioned lower in your hand for more cutting power. The knife features dragon scale texturing for grip and to stick with the namesake. It utilizes all the standard XM hardware and accessories including HMBS. It is ever so slightly smaller than the XM-18 3.5" yet it remains an excellent choice for both combat and utility tasks. 
What really makes this knife stand out, is that it features Rick's amazing creation; the HMBS—Hinderer Modular Backspacer System! HMBS is an innovative patent pending design that features a removable backspacer. The great thing about using a knife with the installed HMBS is that there is no disassembly is required to switch out backspacers with one of the many variations Hinderer offers.
