Second Model German Luftwaffe Dagger (Richard Herder/Solingen) WW2 2nd
Description: The 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger was adopted for wear by officers and certain high-ranking NCO's in 1937. The fittings were generally produced in a gray finish, although nickel or silver plating was available. The dagger had an aluminum top pommel featuring a swastika on both sides, and a matching crossguard which depicted an eagle in flight clutching a swastika in his talons. The grip is a yellow colored celluloid. The steel scabbard has a matching finish with pebble panels and oak leaved lower section. This fine Luftwaffe dagger has textbook Herder fittings. The detailing throughout the pommel, the ferrule, and the aluminum crossguard shows little to no wear. The deep yellow grip is quite beautiful and remains in perfect condition. It is wrapped with twisted brass wire. The scabbard is a very fine example with a silvered finish that shows little wear and has crisp pebbling throughout. The throat is retained by a pair of screws. The blade remains bright, but does have some minor age stains here and there. The reverse is clearly marked with the familiar double diamond trademark of the Herder firm, and the original blade buffer is in place. A very nice, complete 2nd Model Luftwaffe dagger here. All items are also available for sale in our brick & mortar store and are subject to prior sale. Think long, think wrong. Payment On firearms, we typically only accept credit cards or money orders/cashier's checks.
