WWI Push Dagger Stag Handle w/ Ross Rifle Bayonet Scabbard
Description: This is a a very well made Canadian WWI Trench Push Dagger in a modified Ross Rifle bayonet scabbard. These hand to hand combat knife / daggers were often carried by soldiers in the trenches for close quarter fighting. This is an extremely well made example measuring 7 inches overall with a 4 ??inch two sided blade having a heavy brass capped, stag horn grip that is one inch in diameter with a heavy brass cross guard. The blade was fashioned from a larger bayonet and shows some scattered light carbon stains and flaking that was polished smooth. The leather scabbard was expertly fashioned from a larger Ross Rifle bayonet scabbard, shortened with a custom brass throat and then attached to the frog. It is well marked with the Canadian broad arrow on the front and "MKII" on the back and expertly fits the knife and is in very good condition with slightly dry leather with sound stitching. The soldiers initials "B.A.E." are inscribed on the right grip cap. This weapon was resourced in Canada out of a Vets estate. Unfortunately we have no further info on this item. SOLD |
