KING FAISAL II OF IRAQ"
RAYMOND THORP BOWIE & ARKANSAS TOOTHPICK MADE BY RANDALL of ORLANDO,FLA.MOST SPECTACULAR SET YOU'LL EVER SEE-SHOWN IN BOOK!
Description:
Randall Model # 12-13" Raymond Thorp Bowie & Randall Model # 13-12" Arkansas Toothpick " KING FAISAL II OF IRAQ" two-knife set as it is known, is valued for its spendid appearance, stunning visual triumphs, an enduring aesthetic achievement unmatched by today's standards, but above all for its moden configuartion of a timeless love for the beauty of knives and finery as only the Randall shop could do. It is valued for the overwhelming inspiration, exquiaite look, utmost skill, and passion it represents. Bo Randall has made knives that belong sheathed in the gridles of Celtic Kings, Royalty and has made blacksmithing a holy calling and Excalibur a possibility. However, the quality of one of his knives is not synonymous with the quantity of knives that went before it such as this extraordinary set. As "Bo" Randall once told me, " I don't have to tell my customers these are not tools."
The condition of that particular set is by far the most spectacular you'll ever encounter today; as it is pristine-light check in the ivory handle which is typical of such precious material. This uniquely produced set presents these two knives in a private collection that belongs to the art of custom knives or in museums. This is the replica of the set that the Randall shop made for the late King Faisal II of Iraq back in April 1956. The only difference is that the shop could not rerproduce the King's Royal insigna and the King's initials on the brass name plate. Any "true" King Faisal set must have the Raymond Thorp Bowie with the brass back feature brazed on the knife's spine, Both knives have a scalloped brass collar, double brass guard with forward curve, female center cut elephant tusk ivory handle, a matching brass name plate and a scalloped flanged brass butt cap. One particular photograph denotes the imprint of both knives in the original felt seen at the bottom of the hand-made presentation oak case by Randall as they were originally held in place by four wires for about 44 years, before I acquire the set. The oak presentation case weighs over 10 lbs. At the very beginning, in the space of just few years, W.D. "Bo" Randall , founder of Randall Made Knives, managed to make his name and "forge" a place for his exceptional talents in hand-forging custom-made knives, and began to supply knives to our troops on their way to WWII, thus creating a dynasty that thrives today. It is during the 50's, 60's and early 70's that the Randall shop began to supply and produce some of the most stunning pieces ever created, as vouched by the fact that many of these exquisite knives resides in the Randall museum; should a customer have his own design or style of knife that he would like the Randall shop to produce.. Like a fine and outstanding piece of jewelry, this set represents elegance and prestige. Shown in a book about W.D. "BO" Randall. NOTE: If you know where a similar set can be purchased like the one being offered here at a lesser price, I'll be more than happy to match it, but the odds in finding such set in the same remarkable condition I am convinced, are slim to none.
