Description:
This is an old Mexican knife. Marked with the makers sign (an arrow see photo) and the letters (SAVU A) on the right side. The knife has a black bull horn handle and a 10” blade and is 15” overall. All parts are tight and solid. There are no chips, cracks or moth chews on the horn handle. This is a primitive knife that would give many century of service. Mexicans were notoriously deadly knife fighters. It is in good solid condition. This is a very well-made Mexican knife dating to about 1870 to 1910. The sheath is just as interesting as the knife its self. It is made with primitive leather stamping all combine to make a uniquely interesting knife and sheath from common materials. It is the talent of the maker that makes it so appealing. All stitching is intact and displays very well. I have had this knife in the collection for 45 years. It is time to pass it to another caretaker.
