George Lawrence Western Holster & Belt for Colt SAA 5 1/2 inch, 38/357 Loops, Black
Description:
This listing is for my George Lawrence black leather western holster and belt. The holster is marked "The George Lawrence Co., Portland, Oregon, 79D, 603". The belt is marked "The George Lawrence Co., Portland, Oregon, 79D, 38, S". This was my first Lawrence holster which I bought in the 1960's to carry my Ruger Blackhawk 357 revolver with 6 inch barrel. I believe I ordered it directly from Lawrence at that time. I wore it on the farm and when hunting for several years. It then hung in my gun cabinet for many years. I got it out about 20 years ago when I became interested in Colt SAA's, but for some reason the ends would no longer meet! I had a belt maker fabricate a 12 inch matching 1 3/8 inch "Extender" . With the extender, it now fits perfectly around my 36 inch waist using the third hole on each end. That should leave an additional 4 inches if needed.
The holster and belt are backed with leather, the holster with a reddish pebble grain leather and the belt with a light brown leather. The inside of the holster itself is lined with smooth black leather. The snaps on the holster are intact and work correctly. The original leather hammer thong and leather leg tie straps are present, but the leg ties are starting to crack slightly. All stitching is in good condition. The buckle and straps are in good condition . The only aging I see is the small buckle on the holdter itself is starting to oxidize slightly and there are a couple of tiny surface cracks on the belt in one place below the cartridge loops. The belt has 25 cartridge loops for 38/357 cartridges. There are a few small scratches in the leather from my wearing it. The rig remains in very good condition and has a nice appearance.
This would make a nice rig to carry your single action revolver or would make a nice looking rig to display the same. The price is $100, plus $15 USPS shipping. USPS Money Orders are preferred for payment, but I will accept checks with a 5-day hold for clearance. Thanks for looking !
