Original WW2 Nazi NSDAP Flag Pole Eagle Finial Designed by Otto Gahr
SOLD
Description: Fresh "out of the woodwork", this is a very handsome all-original Nazi NSDAP flag pole eagle finial designed by the famous Nazi party silversmith Otto Gahr. This came out of the estate of a WW2 veteran's family, and has never been on the collector's market before. This 100% original WW2 flag pole finial features the famous Nazi Eagle clutching a wreathed swastika mounted on a 2.75" inch long cap made to fit a 1" inch diameter flag pole. As you can see from the pictures, this eagle is very detailed and striking in appearance with great feather, feet, and head detail. In typical German fashion, it is very well-made for a mass-produced metal alloy piece. This Nazi Party flag finial is a good display-sized piece with a total height of just under 10" inches tall and with the eagle's wingspan measuring 9.5" inches from tip to tip. A stand-up display could be made for it very easily to display on a bookcase or shelf, or it could be added to a display box with a WW2 German handgun of some type. This is really a neat piece for any WW2 historian, especially given all of the parades and rallies that the Nazis held before and during the war. This finial could have been on a flag flown at the 1936 Olympics, at any one of the huge annual Nuremburg Rallies that the Germans held, or even along the Champs-Elysees in Paris, France during the German occupation.
