Buff & Buff Engineersâ€™ 18-Inch Wye Level, Circa 1905. Has an 18â€? telescope with 1â…œâ€? objective. Telescope, level and Contact points of bell-metal collars have a Phosphor-bronze cloth finish. Brass name plate is marked Buff & Buff MFG Co. /19133 / Bostonâ€?. Buff & Buff Manufacturing Company was started by George Louis Buff in Boston, MA from 1898 to 1962. They specialized in surveying transits and equipment. This Engineersâ€™ level is pictured and described in, The Buff & Buff Manufacturing Co., High Grade Engineering, Surveying, Astronomical and Mining Instruments Catalog, 1905 (pg. 66-67). In very good overall condition. Comes in original mahogany case.
