Cape Buffalo Bookends
Description: By Peter Darro ( -1977) , original bronze cast bookends. These were the only ones. The mold was destroyed in a foundry fire. Peter's studio was in Chicago and unlike many, was a painter since boyhood, later being recognized as a designated artist. As a portrait painter, his ability to transmit the essential character of a subject, won him national fame. He painted Senator Everett and Mrs. Dirksen for the Dirksen Memorial Library and Rachel Carson (author of "Silent Spring") for the National Wildlife Hall of Fame. In murals, a major achievement is his 120' mural at the Grandview State Bank in Illinois. We acquired the balance of the paintings hanging in Peter's studio. We went over his client list which was "impressive" to say the least, with all paintings selling direct, not through a gallery. Family Owned & Operated Cisco’s Gallery deals in the rare, exceptional, and one-of-a-kind pieces that define the history of America and the Old West. Our pieces range from American Indian to Cowboy Western and include original items of everyday life, commerce, art, and warfare that tamed America’s frontier. Our 14,000 square foot gallery opened in 1996 in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Personal Service Cisco’s operates on old fashioned values – honesty and integrity, and all of our items are backed by our money back guarantee. We appreciate the opportunity to earn your business. Whether you desire assistance with a jewelry purchase, choosing a gift, identification, or even selling – we hope to be your trusted source. SOLD |
