Remington Target Model of 1901 Rolling Block
Description: Remington Target Model of 1901 Rolling Block Ser# 1717 .22s. Underside of barrel marked 22 S .22 Short. The chamber is deep enough for .22LR Overall Outstanding Condition both wood and metal. Excellent bore and rifling. Barrel 10" part octagon, part round Very light trigger pull. Adjustable Target Sights Checkered stock Excellent Shooter The bottom of the butt has a few marks, a small chip from the heel. Front sight is correct but appears to have been refinished. All markings are sharp and ledgible. The numeral 3 appears on the frame and the barrel. Book: Remington Rolling Block Pistols by Landskron first edition 1981. Autographed by author. Out of print. This pistol carries US Army Inspectors marks. The 1901 model pistols were produced for the US Army and delivered during 1871 in .50 caliber. They were obsolete before they were manufactured and apparently saw little use. Printed reports indicate that the pistols were purchased back by Remington and remanufactured for the civilian target market.
