Whitney Wolvervine - Like New In Box With Papers
Description:
Whitney Wolverine in New-In-Box / Like-New-In-Box Condition. This is the original Whitney Wolverine, manufactured by the Whitney Firearms Co. in late 1957 - early 1958. From what I can tell this pistol has never been shot. The box, owner's manual, registration card, and wax paper are present and in original condition. As per the pictures, there are some cracks in the yellow plastic insert of the box, and the box has some scuff marks. Other than that, I would call this new-in-box.
Price lowered fo $1,850 (if I don't sell at this price I will likely keep it or send to Rock Island for ).
The Whitney Wolverine was the first of the "space age" pistols, with a "Buck Rogers" look to it. I purchased this from the estate of a gentleman who went to work for NASA in the late 1950s. The "space age" look to the Whitney Wolverine is what inspired him to purchase the pistol new way back then, and never shoot it (per his children).
If you are still reading this ad, you know how rare this pistol is in any condition, much less in this condition. The only way you can find this pistol in better condition is if you find it in an unsealed box, tucked away somewhere. Even then I'm not sure if it would be in better condition. This one is that nice.
In my pictures you will see a box of Super X ammunition in the rectangular "cut out" of the yellow plastic packaging. From my research it does not appear that a box of ammunition was included with the pistol as it was shipped. See "The Whitney Wolverine .22 Caliber Semi-Automatic Pistol", by Antonio J. Taglienti, p. 113. The box of Super X in my pictures was with this pistol when I purchased it from the estate. The box still has all 50 rounds, which is another reason I believe it was never loaded, much less fired.
If you would like the box of Super X I will include it, but will have to charge separately for shipping (can't ship ammo with the pistol). But, if you just would like the empty Super X box, I will remove the cartridges and include the empty Super X box as you see it in the pictures.
If you would like to purchase my copy of "The Whitney Wolverine .22 Caliber Semi-Automatic Pistol", by Antonio J. Taglienti, please let me know and I will include the book for an additional $45 (there are no markings, etc. in or to the book).
