Offered here for sale and newly acquired is this very fine collectible early Walther Model 4 .32 auto pistol. The Walther Model 4 is a German semi-automatic pistol produced by Carl Walther Waffenfabrik in .32 ACP (7.65mm Browning) caliber, primarily used during World War I and the early interwar years. Walther Model 4 pistols were produced in several variations, with serial numbers running from roughly 1 to around 275,000–300,000 over nearly two decades.
This specimen, serial number (255,249) places it very late in WWI or shortly after, likely 1918–1919.It would be from the later production batches, possibly in the 4th variant, which is one of the more refined versions with improved features. It featured:

• Improved slide serrations
• Loaded chamber indicator on some models
• Slight ergonomic and design improvements over earlier types
• Blued finish with hard rubber or early plastic grip panels, typically bearing the "Walther" banner

This specimen retains the great majority of its finish but faded mostly to a grey patina, and overall very good condition.There are lightly thinning in spots with a few bits of “pin-prick” patina. Grips are sound. When acquired the specimen had an original pair of grips but with one side a chip at bottom of grips. We have acquired a very fine reproduction set of grips but will include also the original set as a "talented" individual may wish to restore one grip.  For the Walther collector an early collectible.
