Colt 1900 .38 Auto caliber pistol. This is a sight safety altered model 1900. This pistol is listed in William H. Goddard’s book, The Government Models. Listed as sold to Browning Bros., February 24th 1902. The sight safety feature was removed and an insert was fitted into the slot. Browning Bros. had a contract with Colt to do the sight work referred to as “Browning Sight Conversion”. Listed in the book are well over 100 model 1900’s sent to Browning Bros. The pistol has an excellent bore. 40% Original blue. The magazine has the correct 1884 markings on the bottom and 80 – 90% original nickel plate. Grips are excellent. Note: This pistol has the original Spur hammer, the later conversions had a round hammer, also known as a “Stub” hammer.
