The correct letter states It was shipped to Shapleigh Hardware company St. louis Missouri April 23 ,1928 Ser # C 149871 Mfg in 1928, Customized ,Master Engraved by J.R.French Fully sterling silver plated when done , Silver is worn and hard to tell the % of it is silver. Some areas are polished in the white where the silver has flaked off , matches very well. A great looking piece with excellent engraving and the trigger guard has been Fitzgerald. This practice( FITZ) was a favorite with the Texas Rangers . AS per the pic I enclosed. The grips are real stag, The slide is numbered to the frame and all parts are original. the bore is very good ,the mechanics are excellent and it functions perfectly. I have shot it many times and is very accurate. 4 lb trigger or less. The mag and barrel are in the white. Its a beauty of a Pre war Colt .45 acp Customized and Fitzed, Sorry about the wrong letter in the pics i have the correct letter on this piece. Thanks.
