Les Baer Monolith .45 caliber

Up for your review is a nice up graded Les Baer Monolith pistol.  It came into being some 24 years ago and at that time it was altered by a notable gunsmith by replacing much of its internal moving mechanism with Wilson Combat bullet proof special order parts which I feel added to the pistol's already pretty smooth action.  It was sighted in with several different bullets and powders and all patterned well but the Hornady 200 grain XTP's performed a bit better than the cast bullets did.  All shot less than 2 inches at 25 yards but the Hornadys came very close to putting up one inch seven shot groups at this distance on several sequential occasions.  This was done off a a rest in ideal conditions.  The trigger lets off in a very crisp manner at exactly 3 pounds.  It has fired less than 50 rounds in total and it still has the slide stiffness of a brand new gun.  It will need a few more rounds down range to allow easy slide manipulation for sure.  There are a few very minor blemishes on the pistol but you would be hard put to find them.  It's a bit heavy for concealed carry but if someone would like a really accurate 1911 style gun for home protection or holster carry in the field this would be a good choice.  Les Baer guns are darn good right from their initial purchase but this one might just be a little smoother and perhaps slightly more accurate.  It has been a safe queen for 99 percent of its life.  I'll try and answer any questions via the site or telephone.  Thanks much for your interest so far.
