Attractive, original condition World War II Remington Rand U.S. 1911A1 military pistol made 1943 with correct magazine.
Description:
U.S. Model 1911A1 semi-automatic pistol manufactured by Remington Rand Inc., Syracuse, New York, SN: 985814, made 1943. The left side of the slide is marked “REMINGTON RAND INC. / SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A.,” with the right side of the frame marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY / NO. 985814” and “M 1911A1 U.S. ARMY”. "FJA" inspected on the left side of the frame with "P" proof markings, that cut through the parkerized finish, in front of the rear sight and on the left side of the frame next to the push-button magazine release. Ordnance wheel on right frame cuts through the parkerizing. Grip screw escutcheons with "in-the-white" threaded shafts. Blued barrel, hammer, trigger, extractor, grip safety, thumb safety, other small parts. Checkered brown plastic grip panels without screw head reinforcements, arched and checkered mainspring housing with fixed lanyard loop. Disassembly shows a High Standard barrel with a "P" on the left side of the lug and a "HS" on the right side. Brush blued magazine with five indicator holes and a fixed floorplate marked with an "L".
Condition:
VG+ original parkerizing with light, sharp edge wear; patchy oxidative changes at the rear of the left side of slide with extension to the back of slide and frame; additional spotting on the back of the mainspring housing as imaged. EXC grips. VG magazine with cleaned area on the left side of the magazine and spotting on the floorplate. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics.
