Description:
Smith & Wesson 39-2 9mm nickel finish in excellent condition complete with original box, 2 magazines, paperwork and treated paper the firearm was shipped in. Purchased from an estate where the firearm was placed in a safe deposit box by the widow of a St. Louis area Detective in 1982 and did not come out of the safe deposit box until her children discovered it upon her passing less than two months ago. The firearm is as it came from the factory with no additional engraving on it marking it as a police issued firearm. The firearm was used prior to 1982 and there are a couple minute flaws such as very light scratches just above the "Smith & Wesson" engraved on the left hand side that is thinner that the thickness of a hair and less than half an inch long. Nickel guns are difficult to photograph, but I was able to capture the tiny scratch in a photo. There is also the smallest amount of holster wear, more so on the right side, see photo. Lastly, there is a very small indention in the wood on the right hand side grip very near the top front side of the grip. Serial number dates it as manufactured between 1976-77. Again, an exceptional piece for being 40 years old.
