This is a very nice Makarov in 9x18 Makarov caliber manufactured at the Ernst Thalmann factory in East Germany in 1961. And, because of the date, it is C&R eligible.
The chrome-lined bore is bright and in excellent shape with strong rifling. Considering the age of this pistol, it is in great condition with some light scratches, handling marks and a bit of wear at the muzzle. Please take a close look at the pictures, allowing, of course, for the lighting, flash reflection and maybe some traces of gun oil.
The DA/SA semi-automatic German Makarov pistol is renowned for its moderate recoil and effectiveness in close-quarters combat. It features a blowback operating system with a simple, yet durable design including a fixed front sight and a drift adjustable rear sight. The safety lever doubles as a decocker, enhancing its operational safety. It was widely issued to East German security services and Eastern Bloc militaries.
East German Makarovs are considered by many folks to be better made than the Makarovs produced in Russia, Bulgaria, China etc. It is a great choice for the historical collector or just someone seeking a quality, lightly used Mak.
