18th Century Antique BELT PISTOL Western European Percussion .495 Caliber
Flintlock to Percussion Conversion
Description: 18th Century Antique BELT PISTOL Western European Percussion .495 Caliber Flintlock to Percussion Conversion Here we present an antique European Belt Pistol, made circa the late-18th Century. This attractive handgun started out life as a flintlock and was given a period conversion when the new technology of the percussion firing system emerged. This would have been a good pistol for general carry and it is also conceivable that this was a military sidearm. It features a bird’s head style of grip and full-length stock with carved embellishments throughout. The stock and ramrod are both tipped in horn. The barrel is multi-faceted and a bit over 9 inches in length. .50 caliber bore. This lock does not have a half-cock feature, thus the physical block just under the hammer could be employed instead. This may have been an addition at the time of the percussion conversion. There are period repairs that have completely immobilized the crack around the top of the stock/barrel tang. This is a classy pistol that will do very well on display. The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. Semi-bright bore. The stock is solid with no movement with the period repair. A delightful conversion pistol for the antique collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 9-1/4 inches. Caliber: .495 (smoothbore) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1585 #210628 SOLD Antique: Yes |
