Description: BRACE of ENGRAVED FRENCH FLINTLOCK Pistols .50 Napoleon Revolution Antique Handsome Set of “Life Preservers” Here we present an antique Pair of French Flintlock Pistols, made circa the early-19th Century in France. Overall length is about 7-7/8” with 3-/14” barrels in .50 caliber. These would have been a practical set of weapons in this period intended as “life preservers”. They were sold in a pair due to the fact that they were single shot muzzleloaders, so not quickly reloadable. If more than one shot was necessary as in many a self-defense encounter, there was another loaded pistol with a large and menacing bore, ready to go. These would have been made around the time Napoleon was in and out of power in France. The overall condition is near fine. Original finish. The actions are excellent and strong. The bores are smooth and patinated. The stocks are solid. This will make a fantastic display. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 3-1/4 inches.
