Circa 1800 Engraved, Gold Embellished Sidearm

Here we present a British Antique Officer’s Pistol by Thomas of London, made circa the late 1700s to the early 1800s in England. This is an impressive, full-sized flintlock pistol in excellent shape. This is a classy, high-quality pistol made for gentry and officer class around the time of the Napoleonic Wars.

“THOMAS” is engraved on the lock. “LONDON” is engraved on the top flat of the octagonal barrel. The flash pan and vent are gold lined. The bottom of the barrel features the pre-1813 London proofs as well as “STUBS/TWISTED”. The trigger guard and lock, barrel tang and even screw heads are finely engraved. The trigger guard finial has the pineapple motif while the bow of the trigger guard features a panoply of arms. The ramrod is the original wood with an attached worm and tipped in ivory.

Overall condition is fine. Good Damascene twist pattern on the barrel. Gold lined breech and flash hole. Excellent action. Nice bore. The stock is solid throughout with sharp checkering! Here is an exquisite piece of British history that will easily fit into the collection.
