Description: British ENGRAVED Antique BOXLOCK .54 Percussion POCKET Pistol “MANSTOPPER” BIRMINGHAM PROOFED Mid-1800s SELF DEFENSE Pistol Here we present an Antique British Boxlock Percussion Pistol, made circa 1850 in Birmingham, England. This little self-defense pistol would have been most at home on the belt or in the coat pocket of anyone in the busy cities of London or Paris during the mid-1800s. This type of pistol is small, light and simple. With its .54 caliber bore, this pistol would have been quite the deterrent against ne’er do wells and ruffians roaming the city streets in tumultuous Europe in the early to mid-1800s. It features a belt hook for ease of carry, as well as a captive ramrod so as not to lose this simple but vital part of the gun. The overall condition is good. Gray patina. Frame and hammer are engraved. The grip is solid with worn checkering and some material is missing where it meets the frame. Strong action. The smooth bore is in good shape for its age. Birmingham proofed barrel. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 4-1/2 inches. Calibers: .54 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast.
