ENGRAVED Antique W. KETLAND & CO. English Large Bore .69 FLINTLOCK Pistol
LIEGE PROOFED Early 1800s BRITISH FLINTLOCK Pistol
Description: ENGRAVED Antique W. KETLAND & CO. English Large Bore .69 FLINTLOCK Pistol LIEGE PROOFED Early 1800s BRITISH FLINTLOCK Pistol Here we present an antique Engraved Liege Proofed William Ketland English Flintlock Large Bore, made circa the late 1700s to early 1800s in London, England. William Ketland was Thomas Ketland Senior’s eldest son. Thomas Ketland Senior was a highly successful Birmingham gun maker. He started his business around 1760 and expanded into the export market around 1790. He died in 1816. William Ketland was originally a partner alongside his father and William Walker. He petitioned to liquidate his part in the company in 1800. The partnership was dissolved in 1801. He died in 1804 but the business carried on to at least 1831. This pistol would have possibly, if not likely, belonged to a military officer during this period. The barrel is round with a beautiful full-length walnut stock, and the engravings are reserved yet handsome. If only this gun could tell us some stories. The overall condition is good. The action does not function. Reconverted flintlock. Good bore for its age. Legible markings. “WKO” is hand marked on the wrist placard. Solid stock/grip. “LONDON” and a liege proof mark are atop the barrel. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8-1/4 inches. Caliber: .69 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1700 #230370 SOLD Antique: Yes |
