EUROPEAN Antique ENGRAVED Boxlock .48 Caliber PERCUSSION POCKET Pistol
Mid-1800s Self Defense Pistol
Description: EUROPEAN Antique ENGRAVED Boxlock .48 Caliber PERCUSSION POCKET Pistol Mid-1800s Self Defense Pistol Here we present a nicely engraved antique European Boxlock Percussion Pistol, made circa 1850 likely in either Liege, London, or Paris. This little self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy cities of Europe during the 1800s. This pistol is small, light and simple. This is a neat old pistol and one can easily imagine the sight of its gaping bore would certainly be a deterrent to would be scoundrels. It was of course made primarily for self-defense, especially in cities or traveling around the countryside. The “Pocket Pistol” name says it all. They were the "Saturday Night Specials" of the 16th-18th century. Before the Deringer, they were "Gentleman's" or "Muff Pistols", typically, a smaller pistol that was easily concealed. They were favored among the gentry and women because of these traits. Men would carry them concealed in a waistcoat pocket and women would hide them in a hand muff. It is elegantly engraved on the sides of the frame. The overall condition is good. Good bore for its age. The action functions, although the trigger spring is weak or absent. The grip is solid and contains less than average handling. Lightly engraved lock. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 2-5/8 inches. Caliber: .48 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
