A nice example of a pistol that was used in both the US Civil War and the Mexican- American War. The US War Department ordered 30,000 of these in Febuary 1845 for both the Army and Navy. . This one was issued in 1846 at the start of the Mexican/American War. This model has a self contained swivel ramrod. This design prevented the loss of the ramrod in battle. A nice piece of American history.
