Engraved, Silver Wire Inlaid, Gold Maker Marks

Here we present an antique Spanish Miquelet Flintlock Pistol, made circa the late-18th or early-19th Century. This one features deeply stamped, gold filled makers markings on the top of the barrel, as well as neatly cast panoply-themed sideplate and trigger guard, and delicate silver wire inlay. This would have been a personal weapon of martial size. One can imagine that with Spain’s naval power and colonial activity that this pistol might have seen the world.

The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age remaining smooth and has browned. Solid grip with unique wire inlay designs. A crack wraps the forend with some movement when pressure is applied. A neat feature is the panoply of arms side plate. A chip is missing from the forend tip. The pommel has a soldered patch where a lanyard ring may once have been.
