THOMAS KETLAND FLINTLOCK FRONTIER PIONEER TRAPPER HOMESTEAD .69 cal Antique WAR of 1812 Era LIEGE PROOFED Flintlock
Description: THOMAS KETLAND FLINTLOCK FRONTIER PIONEER TRAPPER HOMESTEAD .69 cal Antique WAR of 1812 Era LIEGE PROOFED Flintlock Here we present an antique T. Ketland & Co. marked Flintlock Pistol, made circa the late 1700s to the early 1800s in turn of the century England. Thomas Ketland & Co. was a firearms manufacturer founded in Birmingham, England somewhere around 1760. Thomas Ketland Sr. was a highly successful Birmingham gunmaker. He started his business around 1760 and expanded into the export market around 1790. He died in 1816. The business carried on until about 1821. The company manufactured flintlock pistols, becoming quite successful in its field. John and Thomas Ketland were the sons of Thomas Ketland and grandsons of William Ketland, who had been making locks and guns for the colonies since the early 18th Century. The lock plate is marked “T./KETLAND/&Co” and the barrel is Liege proofed and marked “LONDON”. The barrel, trigger, lock, barrel tang, hammer, frizzen, pan and spring are all iron with a brass trigger guard and trim. This pistol was likely a trade item that was used in the former American colonies by frontiersmen and homesteaders. The barrel is round with a beautiful full-length walnut stock, and the engravings on the brass are reserved yet handsome. People expecting a fight in that day may have carried and rifle or musket and several pistols as reloading was slow and tedious. If only this gun could tell us some stories. The overall condition is good. Patina with some heavier oxidation in spots. The action is excellent. The bore is smooth and dark. The stock is in great shape and solid. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8 inches. Caliber: .69 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1700 #227917 SOLD Antique: Yes |
