Colt Pocket Navy Conversion .38 Rimfire Antique
Description: Colt New Model Breech Loader 38 rimfire
Listed is an antique Colt New Model Breech loader Revolver type 5, short new round solid barrel, no gate or ejector. Production apparently commenced in early in early 1875, at about serial number 1750 in the pocket model range. The factory conversion of Colt’s percussion line coincided with the expiration of the S&W owned Rollin White Patent, from which Smith & Wesson benefitted greatly and owned the market for cartridge revolvers for years. Firearms like this helped Colt stay in business until their next big breakthrough since the American Civil War, the Model 1873 Single Action Army.
All numbers match. There is no finish on the gun with light pitting in places. It functions as it should with a good strong action. Small chip on the right grip. Bore is normal for a gun of this age with some minor pitting.
SOLD
