This is a very fine French turn barrel flintlock muff pistol. The overall length is approx. 6.75"". The 3"" octagon to round 36 caliber rifled barrel barrel has a very good bore with strong rifling and some erosion toward the muzzle. The barrel has a small wedding band 1 1/8"" from the slightly configured cannon muzzle. The barrel assembly is bright with scattered staining and very light pitting in the same areas. The barrel unscrews easily. The delicately sized lock has an S cock With the exception of a border line on the lock and cock, there are no other markings. The trigger guard has an acorn finial at the front, a decorative bow, and a tang that extend almost to the butt cap. It is lightly engraved. The butt cap has edge lines. The butt cap has a ramrod cavity. The ramrod is absent. All metal has a smooth brown patina. The stock is fine with a teardrop at the rear of the lock and at the left flat, carving around the trigger guard, carving at the rear of the barrel tang, and decorative silver wire inlay.
